About Sage Moon
I'm Sage, a hairdresser and artist based in Golden Bay, New Zealand. I've been working in hairdressing since 2012, though my fascination with transformation started much earlier — as a kid, already cutting my own hair with school scissors, experimenting with shape, identity, and self-expression long before I understood it as a craft.
I grew up in Baltimore within alternative and underground creative spaces, where appearance was tied closely to individuality, autonomy, and storytelling. That perspective still shapes the way I work. Rather than following rigid trends or ideals, I'm interested in the whole person — their features, energy, habits, and sense of self — and creating something that feels genuinely theirs.
Over the years I've developed an approach that blends technical experience with intuition and collaboration. A haircut can be a way of reconnecting with yourself, stepping into a new chapter, or simply feeling more at home in your own skin.
Sage Moon Studio is a calm, personal space where you can arrive as you are and leave feeling a little more like yourself.
